December 2nd & 3rd - Jasper County Museum Christmas Open House. Come to the Jasper County Historical Museum for the annual Christmas Open House. The event is free and open to the public! Saturday, Dec. 2nd, 1-4pm and Sunday, Dec. 3rd, 1-4pm. The museum's exhibits are decorated up for the holidays with period-accurate decorations. The main theme is World War One and the Christmas Truce. On Christmas Day in 1914, British and German troops came out of the trenches to celebrate the holiday together. The museum's centerpiece decoration highlights this moment, with trees representing the WW1-era for the United States, Great Britain, and Germany. The program includes holiday singers, musicians, a children's choir, and a bell choir. Refreshments provided in the lobby free of charge, with some baked good available for purchase. A family friendly way to celebrate the Holiday Season locally. Done in conjunction with the Newton Tour of Homes and Newton Dollars for Scholars.
