Production Technician

Production Technician is an entry level manufacturing position within the production team. The Production Technician is intended to be a shorter-term position ranging from 6-12 months in duration, to allow the employee time for training to become proficient in safely performing production responsibilities according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in any of the production areas. The production areas include cheesemaking and packaging. Proficiency is defined as completion of all documented training for each part of the production process and a working understanding of production, including potential for process improvement, troubleshooting, flexibility, and minimum maintenance training. Continuous improvement is a primary focus of all AgCertain employees. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Operate safely and appropriately in all AgCertain situations and environments
  • Ability to demonstrate a basic and continuously increasing understanding of the cheesemaking process and associated systems within the processing production areas, including formal testing, sanitation, and evaluation procedures
  • Follow all written procedures (SOPS) and work instructions that pertain to the perspective area. These include but are not limited to the production of cheese, maintenance of equipment, proper record keeping, and cleaning or sanitation of equipment and production areas
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner
  • Operate all equipment with a heightened focus on precision and adherence to formulations.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and recordkeeping as required by Quality Assurance to maintain traceability
  • Undergo Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training and be able to comply with Occupational Safety policies and GMPs in the production process; perform sanitation duties in accordance with SOPs, Food Safety and GMP compliance
  • Participate in all company trainings
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent level certification with proven reading, writing, clearly legible handwriting, computer, inter-personal communication and mathematics skills
  • Prior experience in a food processing facility or food service industry is preferred
  • Physical abilities to include the ability to lift 75 lbs (23 Kg), ability to spend 8+ hours on feet and/or standing in place
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Must be computer literate and demonstrate good mechanical aptitude
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to operate various pieces of equipment
  • Flexibility to conduct multiple tasks throughout each day and possess troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to work different shifts (including weekends) as directed and to respond to emergencies and after-hours communication as necessary
  • Able to work on teams with frequently changing team members, have strong person to person communication skills, able to communicate across varying platforms, and do so in a manner that facilitates excellent teamwork
  • Act with humility, honesty, integrity, and a commitment to safety
  • Abide by Good Manufacturing Practices in all areas of the facility
