Lab Technician

The Lab Technician is responsible for executing the Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs for Maytag Dairy Farms. Their role is to ensure the highest standards of production quantity and quality, while maintaining analytical performance to align with production rates. The Lab Technician will align their work to support the company’s policies, goals, and objectives.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Operate safely and appropriately in all AgCertain situations and environments
  • Ability to demonstrate a basic and continually increasing understanding of the laboratory environment and quality control practices
  • Participate in all competencies testing programs including interdepartmental and customer-based equivalency testing
  • Collect samples from the production area and perform of all relevant analytical tests according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Perform accurate testing of samples to create final product Certificate of Analyses for approval by others as defined by SOPs in a timely manner
  • Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
  • Communicate directly with production department to ensure effective participation by the process operators in the implementation of QA/QC policies and procedures
  • Handle, organize and store all chemical substances, fluids, and gases according to safety instructions
  • Communicate with third-party lab to schedule outside testing service
  • Undergo Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training and be able to comply with Occupational Safety policies and GMPs in the production process; perform sanitation duties in accordance with SOPs, Food Safety and GMP compliance
  • Participate in all company trainings
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from two-year college/university/tech school in a related scientific or technical field is required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Previous academic, chemical and/or commercial lab experience preferred
  • Experience with automated laboratory instrument preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Knowledge of general office equipment required
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate internally and externally with customers

  • Abide by Good Manufacturing Practices in all areas of the facility
